X-Cart uses Smarty template engine for PHP. The templates are not encrypted in the X-Cart trial version so you can modify them. The Smarty templates are HTML files improved with the Smarty tags. More specifically, it facilitates a manageable way to separate application logic and content from its presentation. The template designer can change templates without modifying PHP files. Because of the Smarty template characteristic we've chosen it for the X-Cart shopping application. Either you or a designer will need only a few hours to get familiar with Smarty tags.
