CubeCart is one of the best-known free ecommerce storefront solutions. The license fee is only taken for the company information removal; the free version is heavily filled with CubeCart labels and information.

Although this shopping cart has a build-in template system, the company states that CubeCart is not open source software, so the PHP code may not be modified or redistributed. So the free version may be considered only as a way to try the software, as for copyright removal, there are some open source products with much easier customization for the price that is not much higher.
