For the customers of an ecommerce store it is convenient to know a delivery date and shipping fees when they are adding products to shopping cart. For store owners it is convenient to generate shipping labels for their carriers automatically.

Many carriers (UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL) provide online services to estimate delivery cost depending on customer's location, distance and characteristics of the package; then automatically generate a shipping label, so all the store administrator has to do is print the label out and put it on a package. X-Cart supplies you with an interface to InterShipper specialized commercial service providing shipping rates and direct interface to several carriers such as UPS, USPS and FedEx (table based). When a customer chooses a delivery service, X-Cart automatically sends a request to the InterShipper server or directly to the carrier's server, receives a response containing shipping rate value and displays it to the customer. Shipping Label Generator available for USPS and UPS allows automatic creation of shipping labels for orders intended to be shipped by these popular shipping carriers.

X-Cart provides you with flexible mechanism to define your custom shipping rules. You can combine real time shipping calculations with manually defined shipping rules, do your own shipping markups over carriers' estimate, etc. X-Cart allows defining the unlimited number of the shipping methods that should be available to your customers. Once a shipping method has been created, product vendors are allowed to setup shipping charge calculations for it.

X-Cart allows you to state the shipping rates for each shipping method defined for your store. You can define the flat shipping charge, Charge as % of the Total Amount Ordered, Flat Shipping Charge Per Item Ordered, Flat Shipping Charge Based on Product Weight or their combination.

You can define the different weight limits (the maximum weight that can be shipped using this method) for different delivery methods. Also you can define delivery methods without limitations if you set up zero value of it or leave empty.

X-Cart allows to define markups for real-time calculated shipping methods. This can be useful when your shipping expenses exceed the value returned by the real-time shipping processor (e.g. you have to pay for packing, insurance, etc). The markups you define will be added to the values returned by the real-time shipping calculation services.

You can increase sales by offering "free shipping" for selected products.

You can define the shipping freight for product, as desired. If you have any special expenses associated with product packaging or shipping you can define the shipping freight to cover these expenses.

You can configure restricted shipping methods if you sell a product that is restricted in some states or countries. Also you can disallow shipping to particular countries.

X-Cart supports Electronically distributed products such as books, films, legal documents, etc. Customers are provided individual login information to access (that expires after timeframes you set) the downloadable products.

With X-Cart you can define tax rates for each of your destination zones and customer membership levels.

X-Cart allows selecting which taxes should be applied to individual product.

X-Cart allows you to define the tax cost and shipping cost depending on customer's location. You can easily set up various destination zones. Destination zones are zones to which your products can be sold and shipped. These zones affect shipping calculations and tax calculations

X-Cart allows specifying the products with tax exempt.

X-Cart supports Canadian PST/GST taxing system. Namely, its taxing system configuration tool allows a Canadian e-commerce store owner to setup calculation of two separate taxes on the subtotal after shipping is added. It is possible to set up PST and GST separately basing on province of a customer as well.

X-Cart is able to fetch shipping quotes for Canada Post services real-time off-the-shelf. Quotes are given basing on weight and postal codes.
